The trio embarks on a journey of exploration, reworking and repositioning the oral and sonic narratives of the Samnite region (South Italy): not a philological revival, not nostalgia, not merely a fusion of the ancient and the modern, but a transposition of materials, voices and forms into another present. The name Osso Sacro embodies body, support, pain and territory – that of the Apennine mountains backbone: the spine of the southern inland regions, both mother and stepmother, a supporting structure and a place of friction.
Part band, part performance collective, blending words, music and the body as parts of a single artistic device, and having won the 2021 Alberto Dubito Prize for Poetry with Music, Osso Sacro makes its debut in 2022 with *Urla dal Confine* (ZPL), recorded in an old tobacco, a marginal area near the River Sabato and the Strait of Barba, linked in oral tradition to the *janare* (the witches) and situated on the historic border between the Kingdom of Naples and the Papal States.
*Urla dal Confine* has received significant acclaim from critics: in 2023, Osso Sacro won the 16th edition of the Premio Andrea Parodi, complete with a special mention for Best Arrangement, and in 2025, the Premio Sette Madonne in the Performing Arts – Innovation category.
The new album, *Cave Nove*, will be released out on 30th October, preceded by the single “Rashad” (out on 16th October).
